Farm to Track

In the Spring and Summer, my dad transforms this piece of land into a garden. But garden is too sissy of a word because this is more like a little farm. I’m not kidding, we have potatoes for months, rows and rows of corn, tons of pumpkins, watermelons, peppers, edamame (if you want to grow something and be picking it forEVER, grow edamame), tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, and lots of others. But it’s sad in the winter because the land is just empty. It’s screaming, “I’m so cold…and ugly…and barren…” and we heard that cry so we did something about it. (We are very ‘one with the earth’ if you didn’t already know)

We made it into a moto-x track.

Let me tell you something about riding motorcycles: it’s fun as hell. Especially if you have friends who are into it, too. Maria and her friends Anna and Sophia are probably the three of all the kids (there are 13 between our two families) who are most excited to get on the bikes. Watching them rip around our homemade track and attempt some of the little jumps is hysterical and awesome. I kind of always thought of our kids as doing more of the non-ball sports. Ya know, skateboarding, snowboarding, wake boarding….now moto. Mostly because it’s just Danny’s jam. Partly because I hate watching organized sports (don’t hate me).

Clearly, as you can see, it’s not all about the motorcycles. It’s about eating pizza and hanging out and catching rides when you can (you guys, Jamie LOVES riding! Who’d have thought?!)

We are always looking for little riders, so come hang out with us. We’ll supply the pizza.
