What is Perfection?
Perfection is a sense of responsibility.
It’s knowing that even though the 6 year old can be the naughtiest of naughty,
kicking, throwing, screaming, stomping,
she feels a responsibility to take care of those who need her.
Francesca doesn’t need Alice. I’m right here and always willing, capable, and ready to do what it is that she needs. But Alice steps in anyway. Without being asked, without feeling the need to tell me how helpful she was and without a fuss. She hears a kitten cry and she quietly and slowly moves towards it, softly cradles her head in her hands, kisses her head, tells her it’s okay, and moves her to where she likes to be – directly under the hanging toys.
That independent sense of responsibility is perfection.
