….it’s Jamie’s favorite chant. He’ll walk around the room in a half-march, sometimes in a salute (and sometimes with a Hitler youth straight arm – but that seems REALLLLLY unpatriotic, so let’s pretend I didn’t mention that) and say over and over, “Go Ameri-CA!” It’s hilarious. And usually really random. But not on July 4th, duh!
That’s right. We live on a boulevard now. Do you know what that means? That means there are things like sidewalks and pop-ins and….freaking parades.
Thanks to my mom and Dawn, we had enough decor to make this the best parade you’ve ever seen.
[i’m giving a shout-out to friends who don’t just stand by and say, ‘oh, cute.’ this is a shout out for friends who put on styrofoam visors and blow up a dozen red balloons and attach them to 1/2 dozen bikes.)
The boulevard loves America.
We didn’t know that there was a 4th of July parade down the street and back, but if we had known that before we were interested in moving, we probably would have offered more $ just to make sure the house would be ours.
This guy is a parade organizing fool. He had the route mapped out for the kids and led them like a champ.
[a shout out for dads who aren’t too cool for school. who know fun when they see it. who get on a freaking tandem bike with friends and toot horns like it’s the 4th of July.]
[they are the most badass dads you’ll ever meet.]
The kids were stoked for the parade. See?
Christian led while Danny trailed behind with the baby girls in the wagon.
And those who didn’t ride….
They went up the street, then back down past our house and further on.
Naturally, the babies needed a popsicle for the remainder of the parade journey.
So they ate the popsicles…kinda…and showed back up like this.
Best friends do things like ride in wagons together, eat popsicles and then get so sticky and messy that they are almost unrecognizable.
Best picture ever?
I die. They had had it.
And that, my friends, was one of the best 4th of Julys we’ve had.
Fact: this move was the best move ever. you guys, we have sidewalks. the kids play in the front driveway and wait for the ice cream truck. our friends pop in to say hi all the time and it’s bomb. we have a neighborhood full of kids and it’s only getting bigger (and we’re only getting more excited). Our next door neighbors rock and we are on the way home for lots of friends (which means easy visits!!).
You GUYS!….we have parades.
