Today I had nothing planned, so after dropping of the girls to Mother’s Day Out, I went back to Children’s House…just in time.
They were retelling the story of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and it was adorable.
Miss Megan began by reading the story and then showed them the props (adorable!) made by Miss MariaJose.
It’s kind of a classic, so I bet you know the story.
Each child was in charge of at least one piece of food.
Put on popsicle sticks, they were laid out in front of them, ready to be held up when that part of the story was read.
And then it started.
The caterpillar started out as a tiny egg…
And when it emerged and the sun came up, it was very hungry.
She went around and ate all that food before getting a belly ache.
She was wrapped up in a beautiful cocoon.
Only to come out a beautiful butterfly…
The kids LOVED it. They loved it so much that when it was time to find work to do, there was a constant stream of kids wanting to act out the story again and again.
But some chose to read books.
Some chose to go straight to snack (fig newtons and cheese sticks).
A couple did some cleaning.
And, my favorite of all, flower arranging.
There are tiny vases of flowers ALL OVER the classroom and they are so proud of each of their arrangement. And they should be!
