Our summer, really, started today. Well, Jamie is still in school, but he gets Monday and Friday off so it’s still pretty much summertime. We started with a trip to feed and water the chickens.
Yes, they are huge! We moved the coop out of the barn and Danny finished (well, almost) the run so they are able to wander in and out of their home to eat bugs and worms and peck at the grass. Look at this coop:
Isn’t it beautiful? He checked out several coops online and made a bit of a hybrid. He’s so handy. He is going to secure the roof a little better and reinforce the wire, but after that, it’s good to go.
After the chicks were watered and fed, we headed to our summer headquarters. The pool.
I set up camp at a table and get our lunch out. The kids nibble on it here and there. They play with Han Solo.
The baby gets messy.
She thinks she’s so smart. She is.
We don’t mind looking a bit disheveled in the summertime.
We ate some popsicles and swam until we got tired.
Then we packed up and headed home. And I think that’s pretty much what our summer will be. Wake up, feed chickens, swim, come home and rest.
And I’m perfectly content with that.
