Today was a very busy day for us. We woke up at 7:00 and cleaned our hearts out while we got the kids dressed and sent them outside the entire morning.
We could not chance it. I knew they would probably go and play in the dirt pile and come inside and track dirt in with their adorable little feet. And then I’d probably use my yelling voice to scold them. And then they’d probably cry. And then I’d probably feel horrible and tell them I’d buy them ice cream. And then I’d have to actually take them to get ice cream. And then they’d probably drip it on the car seat. Then we’d probably have to pay to get the car detailed.
So to avoid getting our car detailed, the kids played outside all morning.
We had an open house at 1:00pm and I must say…the house looked bomb. The patio looked amazing (thanks to plants that I borrowed from my parents) and the inside was as clean as it has ever been.
While the open house was going on, we met Megan and Noah at the skatepark for a while. She so fabulously took a couple kids off my hands for a bit and then when I picked them up, I snapped some pictures of this beautiful tree in her yard:
It’s snowing flowers. The best kind of snow.
It was so beautiful outside. We got some lunch at Zany’s (mmm, oreo milkshakes…) and then headed over to Big R to check out some disgustingly cute naked-necked turkens. Yes.
Look how gross and cute they are at the same time…
Alice loved the ‘baby ducks.’
We knew we’d see Marley later — he was hosting us at his house for a BBQ. And really, you should always bring a host gift, so we picked out a nice bone for him.
I’m not sure if he liked it or not, but I think he really loved the idea of it.
We attended the 1st Annual Johnson Family BBQ at Andy and Cenones.
I made that entire event up. But I’m hoping that if I keep referring to it as an annual event, we’ll be invited over at least once a year for a bbq. I know we will.
Charlotte loved it.
And how could you not? They have a pretty sweet setup at the farm.
A fire pit.
And adorable ducks.
The kids love the animals at the farm.
Andy made the meat, Cenone got a salad, and we brought mac-n-cheese, roasted cauliflower, and ice cream for dessert.
Danny loved it especially.
They also supplied the beer and wine. It’s not a bbq, really, unless there’s alcohol. Right?
It’s hard to concentrate on eating when there are too many fun things to do.
Like climb trees.
Show off all your sweet tricks to Andy.
Smile like the cutest baby alive.
And since the ducks escaped….
…Maria felt like it was her duty to try and capture them.
And I know one thing that is a fact. When these guys have kids, they will be the best parents ever. Aaaaaand I’m pretty sure my kids will have jealousy issues.
I knew it was probably time to go when Maria was so high up in the tree that she couldn’t hear me when I called to her..
So Andy herded the ducklings into their pen.
Jamie shook the dirt off of his once-bright-and-clean shirt.
And off we went.
We LOVE bbqs at Andy and Cenones. So cheers to 1st Annual BBQs and the hope that there will be 70 more in our future.
