Our Last Day in the Big Apple

Today is our last day here in NYC. We’ve had so much fun, Charlotte and I. So many firsts. A zillion for Charlotte, but tons for me, too. I knew for sure I wanted to go to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, I always have. So this morning, after waking up at 6:00am and browsing the world wide web, I took a shower and got dressed and made Pat go lay with Charlotte so she didn’t fall off the bed. Then at 8:15 I tried to wake these crazy sleepers up.

I gave Charlotte a bath and got her dressed and we were off.

We grabbed a taxi and climbed in.

St. Patrick’s is such a beautiful building.

Charlotte was so good during Mass. SO GOOD. So was the priest who kept the homily short and to the point. Not all priests have that gift.

After Mass we walked to the gift shop and bought a few things (because I’m a sucker for things like that) and then walked until we found some coffee.

Crumbs wasn’t open, so we kept walking. I got this wonderful view:

For breakfast we went to Les Halles

It was really good. I had eggs, bacon and toast and Pat had eggs benedict.

Oh, and Charlotte had baby food and oj.

Let me tell you what is scary. Subways.

DSC_0031

1) rats are scary. I didn’t see any, but I knew they were down there.

2) subways go very fast and if you fall, you’re donezo.

Also, not everyone showers. Nor do they smell nice. Being really close to people makes me nervous.

We jumped on the subway to Little Italy. It was pretty cool.

Holy cannoli!

Then we turned a corner and suddenly we were in Chinatown.

Chinatown is home to many interesting ‘treats.’

Dried shrimp?

And after buying some of our favorites (Lydia, Wyatt and Charlie) some Chinese marshmallows, we walked some more.

And that is when, my Law and Order loving friends, we stumbled upon the courthouse.

Oh, Charlotte is happy because the judge granted her motion for a recess…..

I’m just kidding, Charlotte isn’t really an attorney.

Anyway, after that we walked to the Brooklyn Bridge.

We walked across that sucker like we owned it.

Charlotte liked it I think.

We got across. I think it may have been a record, but I’m not sure.

DSC_0095

We walked around a little bit then headed back to Manhattan.

And now we are in Pat’s apartment watching tv. We’re going to order in Chinese food and just hang out here because I have a very very early flight tomorrow.

Adios, nyc.
