The Big Apple

We made it.

We woke up this morning at 4:00am. Our flight left at 5:35. We got into SLC at 7:00 (8:00 SLC time). I booked it to my gate and ended up getting there 5 minutes before they closed the door.

Charlotte was a champ. She was a little fussy for the first little bit of the 2nd flight, but then slept for a good 90 minutes, then flirted with the people behind me until we landed. The flight was good – we didn’t crash.

And then we took a taxi to the American Girl store, where we did some serious bday shopping for the big sisters. Ooooh, they made out like bandits this birthday.

Then we met up with this guy:

We said our hellos, talked about the flight, then headed out of the store and waited for a cab.

Because that’s what you do in this big city.

Charlotte wasn’t so sure.

She was so tired. IS so tired actually. But she’s still the best baby.

We waited.

And waited.

Pat got it done.

Apparently he’s learned a few things while living in NYC. Like how to hail a cab.

I feel like I’m in an episode of Law and Order: SVU. Mostly because of things like this:

But I’m not the girl who got murdered and raped in the show. I’m the one who happens to know someone who knows someone who might have seen something. I’m far removed from the crime, don’t you worry.

Pat gets his clothes cleaned here:

Please tell me I’m not the one who thinks that is a really odd name for a laundry service.

And after cleaning up his clean clothes, we arrived at his apartment.

So many stairs.

And we are here.

We went to Pio Pio for dinner – a little Peruvian restaurant that had amazing chicken and rice and beans. Then we came back here and ordered cookies. Yes, cookies. From Insomnia Cookies. They came in, like, 20 minutes and may be the best cookies I’ve ever eaten. I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s true.

So very jealous right now. If you get lost and wind up in Jersey City, take a picture of Tonnelle Avenue for me. And if you run into a girl who kind of looks like me but doesn’t, ask her if she’s in love with the 90s band Hanson. If the answer is yes then it’s probably my little sister Drew. Hope you have a great visit.
