A Giveaway? Yes, Please!

Our first breakfast of 2012 was waffles…

twenty12-1

and coffee…

twenty12-2

The kids loved it.

twenty12-3

twenty12-4

Me? I went for the egg sandwich.

twenty12-8

My first activity after making breakfast in 2012 was laundry.

twenty12-9

So. Much. Laundry. You don’t do it for 2 days and all of a sudden, it feels like you’re doing laundry for the entire neighborhood. The plus side is that I got some new fabric softener and our clothes smell so good.

First hair do’s for the kids?

twenty12-11

The usual.

twenty12-12

This girl has so much hair and she hates having it brushed. I’ll walk by her with a brush and she’ll whimper. I’d like to just say that I am gentle when I brush her hair…it doesn’t hurt her. But she thinks it does. Anyway, the point is that she has a messy bun for most days. Maybe 2012 will be the year of Alice’s first haircut. Or maybe it’ll be the year that mama stops being lazy and get up 10 minutes earlier so Alice’s hair looks great. We’ll see.

And this is the best first of all….and this isn’t just a first for 2012, it’s a first for my blog in the history of Fairy Wings and Dinosaurs. I’m doing a giveaway.

Yep, someone is going to get something for free. Not just something dinky and cheap that I had left over from Christmas. No, no.

One lucky commenter will win this:

Oh, yes, my friends. A 16×20 (sixteen by twenty!!!) frame from Artsy Couture.

If you’re on Pinterest, I bet you have seen the do-it-yourself modge-podge photos on wooden blocks that kind of resemble this. This is not a do-it-yourself modge podge Pinterest craft. Their frames are beautiful. They are beautiful in an 8×10 size, but absolutely STUNNING in 16×20.

As a photographer, I have access to lots of cool companies that offer cool products. Lots of them are the same, though. You can buy canvas from x, y, or z. Books from them, those, or these. SO many choices for similar products (and I’m pretty loyal to a select few companies). But Artsy Couture specializes in unique, adorable products…perfect for my clients.

This is what you have to do —

– Make sure you “follow” my blog

– Comment here, telling me (and all my readers, duh) what you’re most exciting goal, resolution, activity, trip, event, etc. is for 2012.

This would be mine:

“Oh my gosh, your blog is the best on the internet. You’re kids are the most gorgeous children I’ve ever seen in my entire life. And you’re so fashion. And hilarious. Β And talented. I am going to tell all my friends to check out your blog because it’s the best! I’m most excited for 2012 because I’m going on a 3 week long vacation to tour islands in the caribbean, flying 1st class and staying in private, super swanky hotels. With all my super awesome friends.”

haha I crack myself up. But seriously, leave me a comment telling me about your most exciting 2012 plans and you will get a chance to win a 16×20 Artsy Couture frame that will completely make your room.

(Here’s a plus: if you’re a client of mine, I’ll even throw in a 16×20 print from our session)

Oh, and pass it on. Β On Thursday, I’ll choose a winner.

So I don’t want to creep you out by saying how much I love reading the blog and wishing that I could be as good of a mama to Wyatt as you are to the babies. I am pretty sure Erin actually said (about laying Wyatt down and letting him play on his own while I go to the bathroom), “now that you know that Ruthie does it, too, do you feel better about it?” I am still amazed how you balance everything among Danny, babies, other family stuff, as a photographer.. house… all that. I haven’t been able to pay attention to my blog, I am pretty sure my husband feels abandoned (I know Jack certainly feels that way), and I haven’t woken up in time yet to get to work this year.
So for the fun trips: we have bunch of trips planned for this year. We will be heading to Cape Kiwanda in late June, probably to Korea, then to the valley (so we didn’t tell you guys this yet, but we want to come visit you guys in the valley) then to the Deschutes… see? I just hope that we can actually enjoy our trips with our little one (and for me to try not to stress over everything so much).
The goals for this year: definitely taking more pictures of our family, especially of Wyatt. He does grow up so fast and I don’t want to have any regret not taking enough pictures… And I will need a recommendation on a good camera!
Now, you can draw for the giveaway πŸ™‚

I love reading your blog. It inspires me to take the time to take more photos. My plans for 2012 is hopefully to move closer to family. This means to make my current home pleasant to buy and to look for another place to call home. Oh the joys of moving. But I think that I will be happier to be someplace new.

I love reading about other families! My goals for 2012 are to watch less TV and spend more time with my kids. I hope to at least take a trip to Seattle and go to the zoo but other than that no big plans for 2012. I just want it to be a great year for myself and my family! The photo frames in the giveaway look amazing!

Ruthie, I completely agree, “you are so fashion.” πŸ™‚ Along with all the other ladies, I also ❀ your blog and the pictures of your adorable family. And that I get to hang out with your kiddos at MDO.

This year, I'm super duper, over the top, excited for my wedding. Weddings are such a fabulous celebration of two people's families joining together and the bride's little girls dreams envisioned.

That's it- choose me for the sweet frame!

First of all, loving your blog. Too cute and I love that I can totally relate. Especially to the little girls and baby girl part. πŸ™‚ My goal? I have so many. I’d love to try a new recipe more often. I’d love to say once a week, but I know me and I know that’s not realistic. LOL Maybe once every two weeks or even once a month. Also, we’ve got some work to do on our house, and I’d love to get that finally straightened out so I can focus more on making my house look super cute. I plan to let Pinterest inspire me. πŸ™‚ Mostly I just want to spend time enjoying my girls and my husband…Never seems to be enough time to do enough of that.

Hey Ruth! My big event of 2012…I’M HAVING A BABY!!! πŸ˜€ I am SO excited for this journey and the direction my life is about to take. I can’t wait to see the changes in myself, my husband, and our relationship over this next year(s). I am completely ready for the ups, downs, and in betweens. I have so many plans for this little guy and can’t wait to welcome him into our lives.

Reading your blog is my way of keeping the positive focus on parenting (and I’m not just saying that because I want to win this give-a-way, though it would be nice to have that beautiful frame and have a picture that you took of my newborn in it.) The way you love being a mom is weaved in all of your writing and it reminds me that even though it may get exhausting, being a parent is the best! Since I became pregnant I’ve come in contact with many negative comments about all of the scary, and sometimes not so fun, parts of being a first time mom but reading about your beautiful children and how much fun you have with them gives me the right perspective. So, know that I am reading and being inspired by your blog (no pressure or anything! πŸ˜‰

    Here’s to 2012!!

If you looked up “fashion” in the Webster…your picture would probably be next to it, Ruth. Yoga pants, frye boots and a VSA Skate shirt. If not of you, then definitely one of the babies. Of course I want to win your giveaway and I may be a little biased because I love your babies like my own…but they are the most beautiful things in the world. I find Andy & myself constantly comparing kids we see to them; seeing something in the store and saying “wouldn’t Alice look adorable in that” and laughing at things we can imagine Jamie doing. They can make anyone smile no matter what kind of day you’re having and they have their mama to thank for that. And I guess Danny, too.

2011 was probably one of my favorite years.
Andy and I finally put a lot of “crap” that was thrown at us…behind us and were absolutely focused on US and our relationship. You think after 26 years of life, you know who your (best) friends are. And that’s not always the case. I think you (Ruth) and I became even closer than before this past year (our anxiety binds us together for life) And also, I found Andy. (well a bit before 2011 but you catch my drift) It’s a pretty amazing thing to find your long lost best friend & the person you want to spend the rest of your days with. My goal this year is to continue concentrating on Andy & I. I know we have a ton more to learn about one another and experience together. With talk of marriage & babies in our near future…I want to become a healthier person for myself & for my family.
I want to remember to breathe & relax about the things that are beyond my control and I want to try and top the fun I had in 2011. Trips to McCall with friends & family to snowmobile, a trip to Arizona to visit Andy’s brother & his family all while factoring in Andy’s busy work travel schedule. Hopefully this year I can join him on more of those, even if to just keep him company while he’s driving. I feel like after 2011, I’m in a good place in my life. A very, very happy place. And above all else, for 2012, I’d like to keep that happiness going. ( :

Most exciting goal: worry less! Let the negative ones go and invite the positive ones in. Don’t worry about family(outside of my home) or friends who are arguing. My friend Sabrina Gedrose brought in to my attention this holiday that I am a picture frame straightener (I had never heard this term) but she explained. I want to straighten things for everyone, come in and make things better. She let me know it’s not my job to straighten others frames. Just simply worry about my own! She made so much sense – so that my goal
Along with drinking more water (found an awesome idea on pinterest – cucumber, lemon and mint water. I mixed it in Brita water filter, chilled = super good!
Read more with/to my 3 little ones
Attend more sports activities/games my friends children are involved in (I loved it when friends showed up to watch my girls play soccer, it made me proud)
Trip: we have a few brewing – we were extremely lucky to receive a two night stay @ the davenport, gift certificate to PF Changs and best of all kids are to stay with my Dad & Chris during our getaway!
Big event: 10 year wedding anniversary in March. Honestly can’t believe 10 years have passed! I’m lucky, blessed, giddy in love and ready to celebrate!
Ruthie: You know I admire all your talents, especially capturing amazing moments between my family to keep forever. Your chill way you raise your kids and run your household is admirable (maybe we were hippies in another life;) love your style, how you mix it up. Classy and timeless along with bohemian and hip – yet not trendy.
Wow, this has been like a therapy session! Thanks Ruthie πŸ™‚
Super duper excited for this year, my family is complete, now it’s time to calmly sail through this year and enjoy the waves!

Well, my most exciting 2012 plans are an Alaskan cruise (Ha-Yep after a 7 week stint of living there, I’m excited to revisit Ketchikan!) without the kids!!!! I also hope to spend more time scrapping, doing fun crafts with the kiddos this summer, and attempting to keep up more on my blogging (however, no matter how hard I try it will not be near as fun or creative as Fairy Wings and Dinosaurs! I love your blog, Ruthie & check it pretty much daily.)

My most exciting 2012 plans — winning this giveaway! Ha! Deny me THAT, will ya?

My goal for the year is do get out and do more with my kids. My work days are my work days, but my days home will be less about surviving and passing the time and more about crafting and library time and park outings and play dates. We might even head down to the Valley a few times, just because we “can.” (I say “can” because our actual ability to manage it is as yet untested.)

To be perfectly honest, 2011 was an amazing year for me…and I was thinking about the new year as I was falling asleep last night and I realized… for the first time in a long time that I am very happy. I have a great life. So, for 2012 my goal is to hang on to that.

… and to hang out with you!

Ok, I love your blog and reading all about the super fun things you and your wonderful family are doing. Plus, I love your mad party planning skills – you rock! This year my goal is to not gain 80 pounds with baby number 3 (hahahah – probably not gonna happen) and to have a date night once a month with my husband. Yup, married for almost 4 years and I bet since we said, “I do” we have only had 10 dates. So this year is going to be better, I can feel it. Thank you Ruthie, for being you– fun, beautiful, true to yourself, amazing, talented, wonderful mother, fashionista, foodie, fantastic wife and friend. I am Lucky to know you.

Your family & photos are beautiful! I wish i had your talent so i could better document our life story. Im very much so into my scrapbooking, but the pictures are quite elementary compared to yours. lol

You would know, probably better than we would, how hectic and demanding life can get with children and family involved! With family and friends in Buhl, Twin Falls, Jerome, and Lewiston (and with the move to Boise), we (Ben, MaLiah, and myself) spent much of 2011 on the go go go and coordinating family & friend gatherings. Dont get me wrong, we understand the importance of friends and family…were just worn out! We’ve decided that 2012 is for us! Still going to be many family and friend gatherings, just more time to ourselves as well. And for goodness sake, we might have some people come to US for the holidays for a change!

So far, (only Jan 3rd) weve already bummed out in our sweats (besides work) and even taken TWO bubble baths in ONE week! Thats never happened before! lol -Even though Ben’s idea of a romantic bubble bath snack was Chicken in a Biskit crackers and Easy Cheese…ah well, I’ll take what I can get!

Happy New Year! 2012 will be BeAuTiFuL!

Anyway, back to Ruthie…… I follow your blog. I want to figure out how to get it in my RSS feed, so I can see it all the time and not just when you mention it on FB.
My plans for 2012 are MAYBE driving across Country. By myself. With my three kids. See why maybe was capitalized?
    And spending Christmas in Hawaii.
    Nothing big.
